Do you remember?
In December,
How we swore we'd never change,
That when the stars
Would burn out their fires,
We'd see each other again?
And when your heart,
Would bleed out my art,
I'd knock on your door,
Hear your footsteps on the floor,
And we'd hold each other again...
Now I try to remember
To let go and surrender,
So you'd forget to remember me,
Torn apart at the seams,
Of my dreams,
You'd be blind enough to see
That the door's broken,
The night's awoken,
And the dying embers were washed away by me...
Now I wish I could trust
You to gather up the dust,
And set fire to the pages that betrayed you,
And I know the pain sears,
I can taste it in your tears,
And I know you'll never love again, coz that's what lovers do
'But maybe there's a god above,
And all I ever learned from love,
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you!'
I'd sacrifice myself,
And let you have what's left,
If only in the moonlight our fragile hearts could shine,
I'd clutch time by the sands,
Never let go of your hands,
And dance till eternity would make things fine,
But starlings are we,
Never meant to be free,
And it kills me to say, "You were never mine".
